Bobby Simha is a talented Indian film actor who predominantly works in the South Indian film industry. He’s best known for his brilliant acting performances in the Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam language films. In the year 2014, he was also awarded the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his surreal performance in the critically acclaimed Tamil film Jigarthanda. People love him because of his versatility and he’s capable of playing any role with ease. From being a comic villain to a ruthless gangster and a romantic hero, Bobby Simha has given stellar performances in whichever role he plays. Having started his career in the year 2012 with Tamil film titled ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi’ since then he has appeared in many critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like Jigarthanda (2014), Size Zero (2015), Bangalore Naatkal (2016), and Ko 2 (2016) among others.
Bobby Simha was born on the 6th of November, 1983 in Kodaikanal. He has two siblings Reshma Pasupuleti and Deepti Pasupuleti. He completed his primary and secondary education in his native and later went to Pioneer College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore. He was recognized by Sundar C and E. Ramadoss in 2005 when he participated in a theatre event called Naalaya Natchathiram. Impressed by his performance, Ramadoss approached Bobby with the suggestion to consider becoming an actor in Tamil films.
After completing his graduation, Bobby moved to Chennai to pursue a career in acting. Getting a breakthrough in films wasn’t easy for him and so he took different jobs like marketing, BPO, and Insurance to earn a living.
Bobby Simha made his debut in the Tamil mainstream film industry with the romantic-comedy bilingual film titled ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi’ (2012). The film was simultaneously shot in Telugu as ‘Love Failure’. He played the role of a side character in the film and was declared a commercial hit.
It was during his association with the short filmmaker Manikandan that Booby got the opportunity to meet the film-maker Karthik Subbaraj. Both Booby and Karthik worked in worked together on several short film projects. Bobby was then offered a role in Karthik’s directorial debut film titled ‘Pizza’.
In the next year, he was cast in Naan Rajavaga Pogiren (2013).
Bobby rose to fame when he was cast in a Tamil black comedy-crime film titled ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. The film which was released in 2013 did good business at the box office and Booby’s stellar performance in the film was praised by the critics. This commercial hit film also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Sanchita Shetty.
In the same year, Bobby was cast in another critical and commercial hit film titled ‘Neram’. The film was a bilingual film that was also made in Malayalam with the same title. The film co-starring Nivin Pauly, and Nazriya Nazim, fared pretty well at the box office. The performance of the lead characters was praised by the critics.
The year 2014 was also a successful year for Bobby as he starred in a critically and commercially successful film titled ‘Jigarthanda’. It’s a Tamil black comedy-crime film which was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The plot of the film was loosely based on the South Korean film A Dirty Carnival. The film won two National Film Awards with Bobby Simha winning the Best Supporting Actor.
He then played prominent roles in films like the Telugu-Tamil bilingual romantic-comedy ‘Size Zero’, ‘Bangalore Naatkal’(2016) ‘Ko 2’ (2016), ‘Paambhu Sattai’ (2017), ‘Ladoo’ (2019). ‘Kanne Kalaimane’ (2019), and ‘Disco Raja’ (2020)
Bobby Simha got engaged to actress Reshmi Menon in November 2015 and the duo tied the knot in April 2016. The couple has been blessed with a baby boy and a daughter whom they named Mudhra Simha.
